About Me

Kamila, the Ruff Pooch's primary dog trainer, and her dog Alf, excited to see her and trying to give her kisses.

Dogs have been my passion for as long as I can remember. Working with them isn’t just my profession — it’s something I truly care about. I believe great training starts with understanding both ends of the lead: the needs of guardians and the needs of dogs. My goal is to help you create a balanced relationship where your dog understands your world, and you understand your dog’s needs.

My training is rooted in positive reinforcement and kind, science–based methods. I am committed to ethical practice and to creating safe, supportive learning environments where dogs can thrive without fear or force. I want you to feel completely confident that your dog’s wellbeing always comes first. That’s why I am a proud member of Institute of Ethical Canine Excellence (IICE) and abide by their Code of Conduct. I am also currently working towards membership with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC), further strengthening my professional standards. I’ve worked hard to achieve my qualifications — and I never stop learning. I regularly undertake CPD courses to expand my knowledge and stay up to date with the latest research in canine behaviour and training.

I have experience of training hundreds of puppies and adult dogs while working closely with the leading puppy school in Swindon. As an experienced trainer, I take the time to understand your individual circumstances. Every dog and every household is different, so I tailor training programmes to suit both you and your dog, ensuring practical, achievable results.

I am also deeply passionate about scent work. A dog’s sense of smell is incredibly powerful, and scent–based activities allow them to channel their focus into something they naturally love. It’s a wonderful way to build confidence, improve focus, and support emotional wellbeing.

Kamila, the Ruff Pooch's primary dog trainer, and her dog Alf, who is resting comfortably on her lap.

Having an anxious dog myself helped me broaden my understanding of dog training. Alf showed me that the nervous system comes first — safety comes first. It seems very obvious, right? What is key here, is to understand what is safety to your dog. Alf is the type of a dog that gets overwhelmed very easily. I used to wonder — why is he pulling right now, when he knows how to walk to heel? Or why is he feeling nervous when we are in a beautiful field? Surely, he should be enjoying this — he is a dog, walking and running is what they do? Trust me, I understand the struggle. I know how it feels to have an amazing vision of how your life with your new dog will look like and what happens when the reality re–writes everything you had in mind.

Once your dog is challenging most of the things you think you know about those four legged creatures, you really start to listen and observe. All I wanted is to make Alf feel safe and make our lives together enjoyable. Deep understanding of dog behaviour and dog body language allowed me to tune in to Alf's needs and opened a path of learning about how dog's emotions work. Why are they reactive, why are they over–excited, or overwhelmed. And that enables me to help you with your pooch. Because I know how to listen to your needs with empathy and I know how to understand your dog too.

I became passionate about how the nervous system influences behaviour. By recognising what drives your dog’s responses, I can help them learn how to regulate, feel safe, and make better choices. With holistic approach, I focus on teaching you and your dog practical ways to navigate the world and changing their behaviour for better.

Above all, my aim is to support you in building a calm, connected partnership with your dog — one based on trust, clarity and mutual understanding.
